Burnt Wood Project
For this design I had to make it look like someone had burnt the design into a piece of wood, I wanted to make this look as realistic as I could. This was going to be used on a banner for an outdoor grill at a golf course. The colours had to be brighter and more concentrated because they will fade over time due to weathering.
Design Template
Before I could start adding and layering effects, I had to make the template that they would go onto. The template didn’t have to be too detailed because it was going to be covered by other layers later to achieve the desired effect I was looking for.
Effects and layering
Now that the template was done I worked from the back of the design to the front. When a design is burned in wood it leaves some scorch marks around the design, to get this effect in photoshop I used the template I made beforehand and added the wind stylize filter to get the effect I was looking for. After that, all I had to do was make a mask of the template and add some more layered effects and blending options till I was happy with the result. It just took a lot of experimenting with filters till I got the desired effect.
Final Design
After I was happy with how the template looked I added and edited the background. I also reduced the opacity of the template so you can see the wood underneath so it looked more realistic.
