LGBT+ National Youth Strategy
The LGBTI+ National Youth Strategy was launched in 2018 by the department of children and youth affairs and aims to ensure that all LGBTI+ young people are visible, valued, and included in Ireland.
The goal of the LGBTI+ welcome sticker competition was to displayed the values of the LGBTI+ Youth in a design and create a sticker that promotes the inclusion of the LGBTI+ community.
This competition was open to everyone in Ireland that was under the age of 24. There were over 4000 entries in the first stage and then 8 were picked for the second and final stage which I ended up winning.
The Welcome Sticker
This is the design I came up with for the competition. I tried to make it have both Irish and LGBT elements and also make it clean and legible. I used two of the most recognized LGBT+ flags, the rainbow pride flag, and the transgender pride flag. For the Irish elements obviously the Shamrock and the flag. This design did end up being the winning sticker for the competition.
The Award
This is the photo of me back in 2019 accepting the design award from the former minister of child and youth affairs in Ireland, Katherine Zappone.
