The Prison Yard Project

The goal for this project was to make a recognizable logo for a gym that could be used on merchandise. I am going to explain the steps I took to create this logo from the starting sketch to the final finished logo.

Concept Sketch

I asked the client what they were looking for in the design and asked for all their ideas and input to better bring their vision to life. With this sketch, they were looking for an American football-styled logo with a weight lifting bench in the middle with the plates on it bar being gold. This is how they described to me over the phone.

Refined Sketch

After doing the first sketch and listening to what the client wants I will suggest my own ideas that they might want to use to improve the design. For example with this project I suggested that instead of having the text on the outside we add another border so it is not separated from the main piece, this also makes the logo look more full and uniform.

Concept Design

The concept design is where the logo starts to take form all the shapes are laid out the logo is more refined this so if there is anything the client wants to add or change this is the perfect time before the final design. The logo is still far from done but it gives a clear idea of where the design is going.

Final Design

This is the final design for this project. The shapes and the colours are refined even more this is also when texture and shading are added to bring the whole design together.
